Common Kitchen Sink Issues

A functional sink has a practical and necessary role in any kitchen. For example, a sink is where you clean vegetables, fruits, and dishes. A faulty kitchen sink may cause a massive water loss and thus this will increase your water bill.

The standing water can also develop corrosion on materials — and thus this will increase the likelihood of leaks — and encourage mould growth. Along with this clogs can accumulate in your sink system and you will get a foul smell in your kitchen. Here is how you can quickly detect and fix most kitchen sink plumbing problems.

1. Clogged Drains

Some people have a bad habit of putting garbage in the kitchen sink to dispose of it. However, the garbage is likely to clog the sink and cause blockages. Fortunately,

there are plumbing experts for the kitchen sink and they can unclog the drains.

If you want to minimize the frequency of clogs, don't ever put the following

items in your sink:

  • Milk and other dairy products

  • Flour

  • Coffee grounds

  • Fruit and vegetable stickers

  • Eggshells

2. Leaky Faucets

From a leaky faucet, there can be a waste of vast amounts of water every day. Worn-out washers and broken cartridges are the main causes of leaky faucets. Other causes may include broken o-rings and inconsistent water pressure. The best way you can fix a leaky faucet is mainly determined by what type of faucet you have in your kitchen

3. Low Water Pressure

You may see that the pressure of water from your kitchen sink has started to fall.

If other taps in your house have normal pressure, then there must be a problem in

the kitchen sink. The things that can cause low water pressure are:

  • Faulty pressure-reducing valves

  • Leaky pipes

  • Damaged water lines

  • Ineffective cartridges

  • Clogged aerators

  • Leaky toilets

We use the sink to wash most items in our kitchen, so it should be in optimal condition. However, several malfunctions may have an effect on the effectiveness of your kitchen sink.
